Gordon Brown will be meeting the UN Security Council to talk about reducing the number of nuclear weapons in the UK. He is willing to discuss reducing the number of Trident submarines from 4 to three. He has said that the number of nuclear missiles will not be negotiated. Brown is trying to create a nuclear free world which is highly unlikely. I think it is a step in the right direction especially as we preach to other countries and demand them to give up their nuclear weapons. Whether you believe in nuclear weapons or not you must admit that we have to follow up with what we preach for our own country, otherwise we will never persuade other countries.
Barack Obama will chair the meeting to help the process of drawing up a replacement for the Non-Proliferation Treaty. He is also trying to organise both the US and Russia to reduce its nuclear weapons.
